Done! EDIT: Jesus, that was hard! But I did it! I'm going to keep testing and tweaking and bug testing for a bit. I decided to forget my plans about calculating the movements and just stop them from moving if it would cause them to collide. This worked, it stopped them from colliding, but when they jump and their legs bend they fall through the coffin and this algorithm doesn't push them back up through. So, using all my skin, cunning, and hacking skills, I decided to push the player up a pixel every now and then if they are doing anything. And it works!!! w00t. EDIT2: 1 hour and 10 minutes of intense coding and thinking. That, my friend, is what is known in the business as deep hack mode. Where mere mortals fear to tread . Anyway, I'm going to go and have a wee and a bag of crisps and then I will do some cleaning and optimising. bye. EDIT3: I decided against the packet of crisps as I have a sore throat. I am eating a Blackcurrant Strepsil instead.

I will probably release it tomorrow. After all that intense coding I really can't be bothered packaging a release . You'll be able to see it in school tomorrow. It's not that impressive, but it is extremely important for the game. So this is a major milestone, people! w00t. EDIT: I might do a map at some time if I can be bothered.

Cool! I hope you finish this mod, it sounds cool. I will put a notice in the News and host it - or rather ML will - if I write a Linux port.

D'oh. It may help if I save the most up-to-date code to my portable hard disk drive. I have failed to send the code home. Oh well, re-writing the same bit of code is fun !

Why not C++?

Post by Maximilian on Dec 20, 2006 17:04:29 GMT
In fact I think it was Stanley who advised me to write a program in C++ but to use the C syntax...

No. Just use structs instead of Classes, use C libraries wherever possible. BUT use C++ features if they make it easier.
